It is with terrible sadness that we learned of the passing of Walter G. Andrews, Research Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington. In addition to being one of the most distinguished scholars in the field of Ottoman and Turkish studies, Professor Andrews was a great friend of our department and notably co-edited The Age of Beloveds, as well as an English-language anthology of Ottoman lyric poetry with Professor Mehmet Kalpaklı, our Department Chair and longtime collaborator.
