Two Faculty Positions in Turkish Literature

The Department of Turkish Literature at Bilkent University invites applications for two faculty appointments:

  • A specialist in Late Ottoman Literature (nineteenth and twentieth centuries)
  • A specialist in Modern Turkish Literature (twentieth and twenty-first centuries)

The positions are open-rank and applications from junior, mid-career and senior scholars are welcome. Although areas of specialization are open, candidates able to teach graduate seminars with an emphasis on graduate courses that situate modern Turkish literature within global and comparative contexts, as well as candidates with a demonstrated experience teaching advanced academic writing courses in both Turkish and English, are particularly encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those applicants who can demonstrate excellence in scholarship and teaching and maintain an international research profile, notably through publications in internationally recognized and peer-reviewed journals.

Academic rank, salary and teaching-load will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include membership in a comprehensive group health plan (with a small monthly premium), a free, fully furnished on-campus apartment, and support for travel for international conferences.
